Website Screen Daily report Sunny has been axed by bosses, despite its popularity.
AppleTV+ have not yet commented on the show’s apparent axe.
The series starred Rashida Jones, who played Suzie Sakamoto, a US woman living in futuristic Japan.
However, Suzie’s life is turned upside down with her husband and son disappear in a mysterious plane crash.
In the aftermath of the disaster, Suzie was given a robot named Sunny to help her deal with her grief.
Over the first series viewers watched as they developed a close relationship – however, Suzie started to get to the bottom of her family’s disappearance.
Sunny ended on a major cliffhanger as Suzie was eventually reunited with her son – just as viewers learned Mixy had been working for the yakuza all this time.
Reacting to the show’s demise, one TV fan said: “Pity. It was truly original.”
A second wrote: “Not surprised at all. Wanted to like it but it was a mess of overacting & poor writing.”
“I genuinely loved this show,” said a third fan.
