Earlier this week, we reported that Tom Selleck, 79, was accused of looking “rough” as he reemerged for the first time since filming the final episode of his show Blue Bloods. Now, a sad update about Selleck has come in indicating that he may be suffering from some health issues.

Selleck May Have Gotten Knee Surgery

Selleck was accused of looking “rough” by Daily Mail after photos went viral showing him leaving a gym in Thousand Oaks, California. Afterwards, eagle-eyed fans noticed that he had large vertical scars on both of his knees. This suggests that Selleck may have recently undergone knee surgery.

This would explain why In Touch Weekly reported that Selleck was having “trouble walking” as he headed back to his car after his gym session.

Selleck has never revealed if he’s had a bilateral knee replacement surgery, which is also known as a double knee replacement. He has yet to comment on these rumors about the scars on his knees.

Last summer, however, Selleck did speak out to deny a RadarOnline report alleging that he had “a secret medical crisis that has forced him to use a stunt double while filming Blue Bloods.”

The publication claimed that Selleck was “in a lot of pain and agony” and was working with doctors to “learn techniques to alleviate” his pain. Selleck, however, was not having any of it. His rep insisted that the former Magnum P.I. star was “fit and vigorous.”

In January of last year, Selleck’s rep also shut down a report that the actor was battling “crippling arthritis.” The rep fired back by saying that Selleck was in “excellent health.”

Selleck Devastated Over Blue Bloods Cancellation

This comes at a difficult time for Selleck, as he did not want Blue Bloods to end. He had portrayed the fictional NYPD Commissioner Frank Reagan on the show ever since it premiered back in 2010. Selleck spent the last few months trying to save the show from cancellation, saying in May that he was still hoping that CBS executives would “come to their senses.”

“We’re the third-highest scripted show in all of broadcast,” he told CBS News at the time. “We’re winning the night. All the cast wants to come back. And I can tell you this: we aren’t sliding off down a cliff. We’re doing good shows, and still holding our place.”

Back in January, Selleck said that he had “learned to love” his busy schedule filming the show.

“Sometimes the hours are a little harder because I’m older, but so what?” he told TV Insider. “I want to work as long as they’ll have me.”

Blue Bloods Fans ‘Aren’t Ready To Say Goodbye To It’

Selleck argued that Blue Bloods fans are loyal and that they would continue to watch the show.

“CBS will find an awful lot of people aren’t ready to say goodbye to it,” he said after the cancellation was announced. “The show’s more popular than ever, and I think [numbers] will increase with the interest this year. We’re certainly not out of ideas.”

Sadly, Selleck’s pleas fell on deaf ears. He filmed the final episodes of Blue Bloods last month, and they are set to air in the fall.

Whether Selleck had knee surgery or not, this is clearly not an easy time for him. Please join us in saying a prayer for Selleck and his good health moving forward!
