The Blue Bloods star Len Cariou is joining his castmate Tom Selleck in saying that CBS canceling their show “doesn’t make sense.”
Ever since notice of the cancelation, the show’s stars have been confused and saddened, and many want the show to keep going.
Blue Bloods Cancelation ‘Doesn’t Make Sense’
Len Cariou is among the castmembers that thinks Blue Bloods should continue.
“Yeah, it’s too bad. Doesn’t make any sense,” Cariou, 85, told TV Insider. “We’re still, I think, the best-watched show on Friday nights, even though we’re canceled.”
Blue Bloods has been on since 2010. During the past fourteen years, it has become a Friday night staple for millions of fans. Sadly, that appears to be coming to an end unless something drastic changes.
“And I think when they launched us there Friday nights, think about 14, 15 years ago — we weren’t really thrilled with Friday night at 10,” he told the outlet. “Friday has not been — was at least at that point not really a very popular time, the first show on the weekends, and we thought, well, it’s not a very good time slot.”
Cariou went on to say that Selleck, 79, has been a huge part of making Blue Bloods a success.
“But because of Tom, and I think he has such a great following on CBS, that once they saw the show, they said, ‘No, it doesn’t matter. It’s really good. So they’ll make it work on Fridays,’” Cariou recalled. “And they thought about moving us to another night way back then, and we said, I think Mr. Goldberg said, ‘No, we’ll own Friday nights.’ And sure enough, we did.”

CBS Cancels Blue Bloods
Sadly, CBS announced at the end of last year that it would be canceling Blue Bloods. The final episodes are currently airing on CBS on Friday nights.
“We really want to thank the cast and crew, everyone involved in the show,” CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach told reporters back in May. “We absolutely will miss the family dinners. It is important to give show the sendoff it deserves.”
“We love this cast, we love their passion for the show,” she continued. “All shows have to come to an end. It’s important to us to refresh the schedule. We are going to end the show come December.”

Selleck Tried To Save Blue Bloods
Selleck spent months tirelessly trying to save Blue Bloods.
“I will continue to think that CBS will come to their senses,” he told CBS News back in May. “We’re the third-highest scripted show in all of broadcast. We’re winning the night. All the cast wants to come back. And I can tell you this: we aren’t sliding off down a cliff. We’re doing good shows, and still holding our place. So, I don’t know. You tell me!”
Selleck was still voicing his “frustration” with CBS last month.
“If you were to say to the television network, ‘Here’s a show you can program in the worst time slot you got, and it is going to guarantee you winning Friday night for the next 15 years,’ it would be almost impossible to believe,” he recently said. “My frustration is the show was always taken for granted because it performed from the get-go.”
