Tom Selleck and his fellow cast members recently finished filming the final episode of the hit CBS television show Blue Bloods, which has been on since 2010.
Selleck fought hard to save Blue Bloods in the wake of its cancellation. Then rumors quickly began to swirl that a spin-off Blue Bloods series was in the works. Unfortunately for Selleck and his fans, however, CBS has now dashed these hopes.
When asked about a potential Blue Bloods spin-off, CBS Studios President David Stapf quickly shut the rumors down.
“We don’t have anything that’s going to be in development soon, but it’s a brand, a title and a show that is beloved,” Stapf told Deadline.
Blue Bloods has seen a slight dip in viewership as of late, though its recent seasons still managed to get nearly 10 million viewers per episode.
But that also doesn’t measure the level of fandom, which by our count is huge among fans!

‘All Shows Have To Come To An End’
While Stapf made it clear that there isn’t a spin-off in the works yet, he also pointed out that anything can happen in the future.
“We’ve got to get it right so we’re taking our time and trying to figure it out, okay, what is the next iteration of Blue Bloods?” he continued. “We have a whole season to go where we intend to celebrate it all season long as to how good that show is, so there’s still time for us to figure that out.”
Amy Reisenbach, CBS Entertainment president, made similar comments back in May.
“We love this cast, we love their passion for the show,” she said. “All shows have to come to an end. It’s important to us to refresh the schedule. We are going to end the show come December.”
The last batch of episodes of Blue Bloods are set to air in the fall. Should they be a success, we can only hope that CBS will reconsider their decision not to do a spin-off.

Selleck Fought To Save Blue Bloods
Tom Selleck, 79, has been working overtime to save Blue Bloods ever since CBS announced the show’s cancellation last year.
“We’re the third-highest scripted show in all of broadcast. We’re winning the night,” he said at the time. “All the cast wants to come back. And I can tell you this: we aren’t sliding off down a cliff. We’re doing good shows, and still holding our place. So, I don’t know. You tell me!”
Earlier this year, Selleck still had hope that Blue Bloods could be saved.
“We’re winning our night,” he told Yahoo News back in May. “We’re performing on Paramount+. So I’m not looking at it as winding down. I’m looking at it as a show that is still rather wildly successful and CBS is gonna come to their senses.”
Blue Bloods is one of the few shows on television that celebrates both law enforcement and strong family values. TV shows like Blue Bloods are needed now more than ever, so we truly hope that CBS considers giving Selleck and his fans what they want in the form of a spin-off of this iconic program.
